Counseling from Section 109

I find myself in a strange and uncomfortable place. It's the same place men go when confronted by an angry wife armed with the Kryptonite of truth. It's the place where we have to take an honest look at ourselves and face some ugly facts.

Joe Cox, bless him, should not be QB for Georgia. I don't doubt that he could have developed into a good QB had that darned Stafford kid not shown up, but he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn unless it was in his neighbor's yard. You know, the neighbor who doesn't give the ball back. This should be LG's learning year, bottom line. Joe has achieved his dream, now let's start working on the future. Of course, that won't happen. We'll spend next year struggling to find the feet for a QB who should have been groomed THIS year. Did anyone notice that, for lack of a block from JC, that double reverse would have worked sweetly, but he...ahem, [w]ussed out on it.

What's wrong with Ben Jones? Usually that kid is a monster, but how many times are we going to see him arguing with his QB? Those snaps to the ground just show that he really could care less once the game gets to a certain point. Very disappointing.

AJ Green could make me look good at the QB position, and if somebody doesn't mention his name in the same sentence as Heisman this year, I'm setting fire to something.

It's a little early, but Washaun Ealey just might be the next big thing in the backfield. It took only one carry to see that WE has stud potential.

Bitching about referees is like swearing at your mother. I don't swear at my mother. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

CWM has no business coaching at this level, simply because his defenses ALWAYS play poorly. Oh, sure, there are bright spots, like most of yesterday's game, but consistency is the name of the game. Our D has more holes than swiss cheese at the Vatican and less talent than a Georgia Tech beauty pagent. Except J. Houston and R. Curran, but RC got hosed on that 33 yd run.

CMB needs a few more years as an assistant before being given the reins of the offense. What differs here is that the talent level on the O is light years ahead of the D. How long can an OC be wrong before something changes? How many times do we find something that works, then abandon it at the earliest opportunity OR dance with the ugly broad that brought us and stay with what doesn't work? This is our offense. It's something we have to deal with for the rest of the season.

CMR...ahh, here we go. I'm beginning to suspect that our love affair with CMR is blinding us. CMR is an outstanding man, the kind of guy you can trust with your best girlfriend and who would have your back no matter what the odds. The problem is, he's only GOOD as a coach. Oh, the man can recruit or, at least, allow his recruiters free reign to get the job done. And if you wanted an upstanding citizen to head the team, CMR is your man for sure. Thing is, some of what God takes out of a man, football needs. A coach needs fire, or at least a low simmer on the point of boiling over. Players and coaches alike need to fear the man when they screw up, but instead of being the singularity where all failures go to get crushed, CMR is more like the cool uncle who always forgives mistakes with a pat on the back and a bar of chocolate (although, not in a creepy way).

A great man once said something like \"winning is a habit, but unfortunately, so is losing.\" Limeydawg's corallary to that would be \"winning is a habit, but so is accepting good as a substitute for great.\" Let's face it, the past 8 years have been good years for Georgia football. That's a truth we can sleep on. Problem is, they haven't been great. We've been close, but only close. We have a good man leading the team, but this program needs great. We've been to third base, but not gone all the way.

It's as if she's saying \"I would, but CMR won't let me.\"

LimeyDawg, I haven't been on the board posting for some time now. My intention this Sunday morning was to start a thread with some of my thoughts about our team. Not just the game yesterday, but prior games and future games. Excellent penmanship on your part, as is to be expected.

One of my main concerns is replacing or grooming a QB for next season. If the handwriting is on the wall (and that is an IF) we need to be preparing for our future. There is no experience like game experience. Thus far, I do not see any preparation for the future. I am probably as familiar with Aaron Murray as anyone on this board as I have watched the young man in high school. Trust me when I say this, he has a lot of tools, those are however high school tools. He is daring, has a fine arm and can read defenses. He is also a bit like a QB that will be playing Monday night against Green Bay. He will take chances and make his share of mistakes. At some point this year, some of the young guys on offense need to be tested at the college level, much like Washaun Ealey was yesterday. If we go into next year with little or no experience with these young players, results much like yesterday will continue.

Not for a minute do I think that JC was not trying his best, trying to win for the Red and Black. That is not his makeup, it has to do with talent and maybe some health issues.

CMR is the main man and he is the one that pilots the ship. After watching CMB a little closer this season, agree that he is having difficulties much the same as WM. Coaching is not unlike playing time for an athlete, it takes time in game conditions, included in that time is a \"learning curve\". Personally, don't think that either have fully experienced the \"learning curve\".

Feel like the remainder of this season will or should bring some answers to questions that many are asking.

Both of you speak so much truth in what you say. The only problem I have with CMR is that he is to loyal to his coaches. He is always defending them and can not see himself ever putting them on the unemployment line. To me this will be CMR down fall for the fans will eventually get to Damon Evans and either CMR will have to make changes or CMR will have to resign. I really do like CMR but he will not take us any highter that we have been. You look at what UM at Fla has done, you look at LSU, all with new coaches we have just if not more talent that they do, it is the coaching nothing more, nothing less.

Great post. I am new to this posting but you said what I have felt since the hiring of CMR. Great man, but he will only get us this far and not feared.I hope he will do the right thing when it comes to his coaches and if he doesn't he has to be dealt with accordingly. Let's get our young guns in and get ready for next year. If the Detroit Lions can take a chance with a rookie why can't my Dawgs. Lets get what we can this year and be ready. I'll be there no matter what.

CMR reminds me of Tony Dungy. A great man who defends and protects mediocrity from his assistants.
