Take the win but......

I just don't know how many more games the Dawgs can pull out of their butts.

Solid effort by the D. Curran is a monster. Houston is a rising star. Green for Heisman.

Yet again shooting ourselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties. Our running game looked pedestrian. Still have some problems with the pass rush.

A win is a win. Go dawgs!!!!!

Go Dawgs!!!!

For everyone being downers here can I just make a FEW positive points?

1. RELAX! Games like this one are where seasons can be determined. This is where the cohesion happens guys. Just because we \"pulled one out of our butts\" doesn't mean that the win is somehow bad! Good grief. Resiliency is a great characteristic. Turnovers kill any team and we are fortunate that we are where we are through big plays and solid determination to stay in each game.

2. We always seem to play down to the lesser teams and amp ourselves up for the big games. I don't know why but the Dawgs continually let teams who shouldn't be in the game be right there to the last possession. So I wouldn't freak out over ASU keeping this one close. But also remember: there are TONS of good unranked teams out there that are itching to make a name for themselves, just ask Washington and USF about that.

4. I am not a CWM fan as ya'll know. But I will give the D-line and linebackers credit, they looked sharp tonight. The D as a whole looked more pumped up. Hopefully CMR cracked some skulls with the D and we're seeing considerable improvement. The secondary though is atrocious and is getting burned every play. Someone better tighten that loose bolt up before we head out to Baton Rouge.

5. Less penalties. Wow guys, 45 yards is a breath of fresh air from the 100+ we've been getting. This shows that focus has been a sticking point in practice.

Now let me also point out the biggest positive of the week that I saw and I'm not sure who all noticed it, but CMR didn't smile one time during that game. Not once. And after the game, no smile. While the team rushed the field and celebrated, he walked out to mid-field without a smile, shook Dennis Erickson's hand and walked straight back to the locker rooms, only to be stopped for an interview. You could just see on his face how unsatisfied he was. I'm happy to see that he's wasting no time in showing his dissatisfaction.

I agree, UGAUSFEngDawg. we came into this game with some major issues.

1. Defense. Did we get pressure on the QB? Not many sacks(1), but we pressured Sullivan most of the night and held him to 116 yards passing. We also held them to 88 net yards rushing and Nance was one tough running back. Houston(2), Atkins(2),Owens, Weston, Curran, Dowtin, Boykin, and Commings all had tackles for losses. Rambo had an int. ASU was 4-13 on 3rd down conversions. Also made some big stops late (0-4 conversions in the 4th quarter). Good job, Defense!

2. Penalties, way down. Didn't see those back breaking pass interference penalties on 3 down.

3. Turnovers still keeping opponents in the game. King put the ball on the ground, but made some good runs in sloppy conditions. Samuel didn't put the ball on the ground, but I think he was thinking too much about it because he wasn't hitting the holes quite as hard after the first quarter. Cox threw one bad int because Moore could have caught or at least knocked down the one thrown to him, again, in sloppy conditions.

4. Walsh- All American, Green- All American, Curran- All American. No Sacks on Cox.

Guys and Gals, I think we made a lot of progress this week. We have shown we know how not to let a game get away late this year when things are going bad, unlike last year. Any way you look at it, we're 3-1, getting ready to take on LSU, who I think we can beat between the hedges! Let's take care of the ball, and GATA! GO DAWGS!!!!!!!

The game over all wasnt that bad but I noticed our offensive play calling got away from what worked in the 2nd and 3rd quarter then didnt go back to it until the last few drives in the 4th.

The defense looked better against a supposed superior offense to SC or Ark and the defense pretty much saved it, who would have guessed that? Still you cant keep giving offenses short fields to work with with the TO's, its just a recipe for disaster.

And would some one, for the love of god, quit letting miller field punts!!!!! Every time I see him back there my blood pressure rises 20 pts.

Well don't I look like the idiot? I must have totally lost my mind somewhere because I thought we traveled to LSU. Well this makes my Sunday (and week) a little brighter. :o)

ugaa,

You're 100% right. If we want to get to the next level, we cannot keep giving teams turnovers that they capitalize on. If we keep giving up two turnovers a game, expect 14 points put on us by both LSU and Tennessee.
