Just plain UNBELIEVABLE

This statement has NOTHING to do with our players on D.

We have THE worst defensive secondary schemes against the pass in the SEC....maybe in the top 75 teams in college football. Play ten yards off the WR's and when the ball is snapped.....BACK UP. Hey CWM.....ever cross your mind to make sure their TE was NOT going to catch the ball?? How many times was it 3rd or 4th and 5 and all they did was play a simple \"pitch and catch\" for the 1st down?...AND it wasn't even close to being stopped !! Their WR's and RB's were WIDE open ALL night. Our D secondary coverage schemes made Garcia look like the #1 pick in next year's draft and how many times did we pass rush hard on the outside to only let Garcia have a COMPLETELY open lane to run the ball 10 yards.

CMR commented after the game that the difference in the game was that we played good on D in the red zone.......GEEZ MAN, how about stopping them on THEIR side of the 50 and not let them get to our red zone.....EVERY time they have the ball. The way our D plays that soft zone coverage, our opponents don't need to even bring their punter with them. Play man-up, hit them off the line, we have the athletes to play that scheme......geez, even if we got burned a couple of times, they would have driven the field and scored ANYWAY.

Terrible, terrible D coaching schemes....imo.

Samuel played great....he certainly looked like a different back from last week (or USC's D tried to hit him high instead of going for the ankles.....BIG mistake on their part). Loved Samuel's physical play, very encouraging.

Glad to see JC have a pretty good game overall. That pick-six he threw....how could he have NOT seen Norwood, how can you miss THAT guy?!!? He played briefly in a game last year and almost did the EXACT same thing in the flats but the DB dropped the ball or it would have been a pick-six as well. Ever since I saw that last year it concerned me. But thought he looked much better last night.

I'll take the win but our D is AWFUL and if something isn't corrected soon (at least the scheme), we will have to score 40 every game to have a chance....I'm not sure our offense has that capability. Hopefuuly we will improve each and every week to the level we expect.....until then, take one aspirin in the morning of gameday to thin your blood for heart attack prevention.

Oh, I'm quite sure Urban and Tim are licking their chops right about now. When is the last time one SEC team put up triple digits on another?

Yeah, I'm not sure how the Martinez fan club is going to be able to continue to defend him.

wlayton, while our offense is nothing to write home about, think that the problem is the same as with the defense. Too much inexperience calling the offensive plays and the total lack of understanding defensive football on that side. Say it again, we have the talent wearing the pads.

I just have the feeling that Coach Richt has since last year tried to protect WM. Miami needed a defensive coach at the end of last year, guess what, WM was not hired. Can't say if he was interviewed or not, but he is a Miami alumni.

Don't feel real good right now about the recruits for next year. Verbal is just that, verbal. There are a couple of players down this way that UGA is recruiting, but with this type of football, no way. Think back to last year when we played South Carolina and the stand we made and created a fumble. They got real close again . . . . something is wrong.

Thanks players for the victory and the effort you put forth. Go Dawgs!

This is from David Hales blog. Just something to think about.

There are going to be a lot of folks angry with Willie Martinez after this game because -- well they have to be angry at someone, right? But take a big step back, folks. Willie called a pretty good game, all things considered. The pass rush wasn't bad, but there were at least a half-dozen times were the rusher would spin the wrong direction or just miss bringing down Stephen Garcia, who played out of his mind. Willie was completely hamstrung by having his top defensive end, Rod Battle, go down with a knee injury and two of his top three Sam linebackers, Darius Dewberry and Nick Williams, miss the game with hamstring pulls. Marcus Washington spent most of the game floating between LB and DE, and Willie was essentially just working with what he had. The middle of the field was open a lot, but it was by necessity. He played a classic bend-but-don't-break style, which was not pretty, but it was effective. The defense was exceptional in the red zone, and South Carolina didn't score an offensive touchdown in the second half. This was not anywhere near as bad as some people are going to make it out to be.
