Scary

Thought about posting this for a couple of days, going back and forth as to posting or not. However, this is a board that is open to conversation, some agree and some don't. Give it a go.

Watched the Tennessee game on Saturday, thinking that I would see just what a push that game would be for UGA. First off it is an SEC game and seldom are there any pushes in this conference.

After Monte Kiffin left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers I made a post saying that him going to UT was not a good thing for us, being Eastern Division SEC. Thought it would take a year or two for him to pull the Vols together and make them respectable.

IN MY OPINION, Monte Kiffin has these guys jumping off of the rafters for him. Does not surprise me, he is a very uplifting coach that knows how to get players to reach down and get whatever it takes to win. I am a Tampa Bay supporter and know of what I speak. Monte is so much like Erk, knows what it takes to light the fire in their bellies and have the defense move forward.

This game with UT I had pretty much written off as a win, can't with all due respect do that now. This team, like it or not, is going to be a handful for anyone in the SEC. Don't really like to say that, however the coaches at UT with all of their background have made believers not only of the fans, but the players. Mark my words, this is a tough game for us, especially in Knoxville.

On the offensive side of the ball, they have found that running back combination that is needed to make the rest of the offense work. The freshman is an absolute load. Guess that is why he was ranked so high in most scouting reports. Offensive line, big and moving people.

Do I like saying this, nope. It is what I have seen so far, and this of course is a young season. If we can't get some pressure from the edge, and move the ball with the talented receivers that we have . . . . trouble is lurking for us. Truthfully, I am really worried about the rest of this season, hope these young pups can step forward and make the University proud.

Last but not least, realize that we have South Carolina this week. That is where the concentration should be. SS is already mouthing off about not having an offense, watched him over the years, he is coming to Athens with butt kicking on his mind. He needs to do something big and the folks in Carolina are not unlike us, they want production. SS is wearing thin on the folks of South Carolina and they don't want promises, they want results. We have out recruited SS since he has been there . . . . can we OUT COACH SS . . . . Go Dawgs!

Buc that was a great post. MK has sold these players on his system, and they are very dangerous. Even as a Florida fan I am scared of that game. Bryce Brown is an absolute load of a running back and Montario Hardesty is the perfect work horse back. Crompton is just good enough to be dangerous. They have combinations of speed and size at wide reciever, and a 6'6\" tight end that has good hands. They forced 3 turnovers, and only gave up 83 total yards. It was Western Kentucky, so I cant be completely sold on them, but they are going to be very tough this year. I initially thought that were going to go to Florida and get embarrassed, still think UM will do that if he has the chance, but now I hope we can sneak out of there with a win. UGA will need to have there wrinkles ironed out by that time, and I think that they will.

Buc, I've been thinking the same thing. It makes me wonder how a schedule might affect a season. Start off with an easy W, I don't know. One thing's for certain, we will soon see what this team is made of.

averagedawg, apparently gatorstrong saw the same thing that I did watching the game. Running game for UT scares me. Know your feeling for UT, more so, the coach that was there, and I felt the same way. They did not resemble last years team. I don't care for the young Kiffin, but have great respect for his father. Adding Monte insured they would be more of a force in recruiting in the State of Florida, especially the West Coast of Florida. Lots of talent over there. To wit: Murray, Charles and the beat goes on.

Totally agree with your statement about paying close attention to our team, there are some questions that I hope get answered quickly. Lots of athletes wearing the Red and Black, sure hoping we can pull this group together . . . that includes certain aspects of coaching. So much of what wlayton has been saying is coming to the light. Go Dawgs!

Buc, if we field the same team with the same coaching mistakes that I watched last Sat., we only have ONE \"lock\" win going forward. I think you know where I'm going.

While I don't think Tennessee will be a push over, you cannot take anything away from their win over Western KY.
Two things to remember.
1) WKY is basically a Div. 2 team
2) UT played their starters well into the 4th qtr. and Compton was still throwing the ball downfield.
