Open Your Ears CWM

Not trying to be ugly with this thread. This article makes so much sense, and I for one hope that we see a lot of this 3/4 from our Dawgs this year. Several reasons . . . . we have strength and speed at LB. Also, we apparently have some DE's that have some speed, (not size) hurt at the present, but will be ready for football when the whistle blows. The attitude of the returning seniors on the defensive line really have me pumped up, as are they. Please listen CWM, this is a defense that the New England Patriots have ran forever. And I might add, with a product from UGA that has been the stalwart of the front 3. wlayton, think this is truly the answer. :woohoo::woohoo:

Very interesting Buc. You know our strength on our D IS our DT's. Having all 3 in the game to stop the run and with NO DE's, the 4 LB's could create some havoc with coming off the edges and mixed blitz schemes........YES, very interesting.

One thing though......you've got to give those guys breaks and hope none of them get injured. At least in the 4 down front, you can get better rotation at the DT's. But if there's enough depth at DT then I think it really has possibilities.....certainly uses our speed on the outside and the opponents will NOT be able to run inside.....yes, very interesting.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Now if only CWM would listen.

wlayton, below is part of an article today in the Macon Telegraph. Read the article and felt as if someone had poured ice cold water on me. Just another reason that I have a problem with CWM. Don't expect him to give away his thoughts for the defensive formations he plans to run this season, however, not sure that he has a plan period.

It may have looked a bit strange, but it was a beautiful sight for fellow tackle Jeff Owens, who said he’s planning to push for the formation to be used in an actual game. An Owens-Atkins-Weston pass rush, he said, would be as unstoppable as it is unlikely.

But most of the spring tricks and trials are just that, Martinez said. Once the fall rolls around — and more importantly, once Georgia gets its long list of bruised and battered pass rushers back from injury — things usually go back to normal.

That doesn’t mean Owens won’t still try to make his sales pitch, defensive line coach Rodney Garner said. He’ll just have a little extra convincing to do.

“He’ll need to talk to Coach Martinez about that,” Garner said, “but it sounds interesting.”
