I agree with what your saying Doc. Only thing that I think about the deal is that the players are what brings some of the fans to the games. It is prob a very few amount of fans in that category and no one on this board, but the players are kinda the face of the university when it comes to football. That would be the one thing that would obligate the university to not hold athletes to repay some of that free ride in my opinion. Not to mention its majority of the boosters who decides whats gonna happen. Just saying the players because of the publicity that comes with them as they grow into better players. Ex: stafford and moreno.

Plain and simple for 2011...WIN

I think the NFL should just change the rule to 4 years out of HS instead of 3 and solve the problem.......to me it's THAT simple. Wouldn't have to worry about contracts, boosters, obligations and last minute decision making by the players that can hurt recruiting. IMO, make it 4 years....problem solved.

wlayton, Mr. Walker, one of our own, caused that problem. Also you are preventing a person to earn a living by not allowing him to leave early. I'm a veterinarian not a lawyer, so from the legal aspect of this thing I'm lost. Just want to stop the attrition that's taking place at UGA and elsewhere.
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!! PS I would love to see the 4 year rule back in place!!!!

Gotcha Doc but requiring 3 years, 2 years or even 1 year is also preventing a person from earning a living, so don't really see the difference. The NFL needs to step up and change the rule......most rookies don't play their 1st year anyway.

Agree wlayton. Also, would like to see the freshmen playing a year of \"B Team Ball\" like back in the day. Better prepares the young recruits for the varsity football ahead. I for one really miss the days of UGA and GT playing freshman ball. Back in the day, that was a really big deal.
