Home Field Advantage??

Home Field Advantage?? was created by prozack07
Three and a half months after our beloved bulldogs graced the covers of Sports Illustrated as the nations number one team this season, now we are left to rethink the games that left most of us with a nasty taste in our mouths. Aside from the coaching staff, particularly the defensive coordinator, and one huge disappointment that I saw this season is our performance at home. I love the fact that we have such a great record on the road and that is something to be proud of, but we have looked foolish twice this season between the hedges... Why is it that we are so dominant on our opponents field but cant seem to get it done at home?

GREAT question. Maybe we should start wearing our white jerseys at home like LSU does???

I'm beginning to think if we schedule all away games maybe we can win a national championship. Can we do that?

Prozack,

Good question. If I had to wager a guess at this, I would say that a team is usually more intensely focused when they're on the road, especially an SEC team where every weekend is almost like a bowl game atmosphere when they play away. The team realizes it is going to be that much more difficult to win. At home, teams tend to rely a little much on home field advantage and hoping that the crowd element can take a toll on the opposing offense. Not to mention the fact that home teams always feel more comfortable at home. The moment a team gets comfortable, they let their guards down.

That's the only reasonable logic I can think of. Otherwise, I'd say it's just crappy luck.

No, you're dead on. A little fear invokes good play.....keeps you mentally sharp and focused. Anytime you tend to relax you lose your \"edge\".

The fear of the unexpected and training has kept me alive for 12 years. I think it's time we envoke the \"fight or flight minus the flight\" emotion on all levels at UGA.
