The Upside of 19-10

Here are some good takeaways from last night:

1) We never gave up. Even though we were down, we got back in it a couple of times. The bats never quit on us, the PITCHING did. And we haven't had two bad pitching outings in a row all year.

2) We still scored 10 runs. On any other night, you score ten, you win. We have scored 7 and 10. That ain't bad. Our pitching has to shut everyone down. That's what has to happen.

3) Nathan Moreau is pitching tonight. That's not a bad problem to have. Dean Weaver will be ready tonight as well. That's fairly good as well. Except for last night, we really haven't used a lot of pitchers per game this CWS.

4) Oh, and Josh Fields will be ready. And he wants that 19th save to get the season crown. Oh, and Gordon Beckham wants that 28th and 29th home run, to get that season crown as well. Oh, and Beckham and Poythress are vying for most RBI in UGA history. Oh, and David Perno is a master motivator. Oh, and Matt Cerione will be MAD.

I think that this is the Sports Gods way of getting the Dawg fans ready for the next all or nothing championship game that we hope to play in!

It's never a good thing to embarrass a resilient, hungry bunch. I think we'll be ready tonight. I felt good about our chances last night before the game, and I think we were well on our way to the championship and got a little ahead of ourselves and before we knew it we let it get away. We won't let it slip away again.

No question we underestimated Fresno State. They didn't get where they are by rolling over or being an overrated team. They did it by upsetting three teams in their regional, then upsetting another in their super regional, then upsetting three more in the CWS. They're a tough bunch who lost a lot of games early because of injuries. We didn't take them seriously, and it showed. We had no heart coming out for Game 2. We started to grow it back later in the game, but by then it was too late. Perno will have our boys motivated tonight, believe me.

dapolla, I believe going up 5-0 fairly easily is what did us in. We put it in cruise control and let 'em back in, and by the time our guys got their heads and their asses wired back together, it was out of reach. We won't make that mistake again.
