Who are we pulling for to win tonight? I would like to see UNC win, how about everyone else?
I won't know who I'm pulling for tonight until about the 7th inning or so. I want whoever is most tired and beat up and burns the most pitching to win. One nice thing is the game doesn't start until 7pm, so if it's a night game that drags on and they celebrate afterward, it might tire them out and they'll have less time to recover than if it was a 2pm game where they could go to bed early tonight. I hope the rain comes again and they can't start until like 9. I'm hoping for a 15-12, 4+ hour affair where each team uses like 6 pitchers.
I will say that I do not look foward to the prospect of having to face Alex White in game 1, and that alone has me leaning slightly toward Fresno State.
The one thing we have going for us if we face North Carolina is that we have done spectacular against the ACC this season. We owned them during the regular season, and we eliminated or had a hand in eliminating 3 of the 5 ACC teams that made the post-season (Georgia Tech, NC State, Miami) and we beat the team that helped knock out FSU and Miami twice in a row.
Fresno State lost 29 games this year, but their record is as deceptive as ours is at this point. Plus, recent history favors the west coast team. The last team from east of the Mississippi to win the CWS besides Miami was us in 1990.
Both teams will be equally hungry for it, UNC having lost the championship the past two seasons to Oregon State, and Fresno State trying to complete their cinderella season. Either way, it's an uphill battle for the Dawgs.
So, pick your poison: risk losing to a west-coast non-BCS team named the Bulldogs, or risk the ACC winning their first title since 1955 at our expense (man, that's a sucky thought) and a team from a neighboring state getting regional bragging rights over us.
