Schedule isn't as tough as you think when you look

when was the last time UGA or Auburn won 3 straight in the series?

The last time Georgia won three straight was 1980-82. I think you know what that period of time was like for us. The last time Auburn won three straight was 1999-2001.

Personally, I think our team now is better than the teams of 80-82. I know that's a bold statement, but I'm making it. We all love Buck Belue, but he wasn't even a tenth of the quarterback Eric Zeier was, let alone Matthew Stafford. Add the speed we've got now on defense and the diversity we have at the TB position (as opposed to Herschel, Herschel, Herschel) and we're a better team now. Couple that with the fact that Auburn is instituting a new offense -- I don't care whether it's the spread offense or the wishbone offense or the Hellman's Mayonnaise offense, a new offense takes TIME -- and I think we're primed. Mark Richt has done a LOT of things that haven't been done since the 80-82 run. Here they are:

Go to the Sugar Bowl.
Win the Sugar Bowl.
Win an SEC title.
Beat Florida and Auburn in the same year.
Shut out two opponents in a row.
Have a freshman back rush for over a thousand yards.
Coach a three-time All-American.
End a season ranked in the top three.
Beat Tennessee in Knoxville.

He's also done a couple of things that have NEVER been done by a Georgia coach, like:

Win multiple Sugar Bowls.
Win the SEC East outright (Ray Goff split it with Florida once, in 1992).
Beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now. All I'm saying is that Mark Richt may wind up being the best head coach we've had at Georgia EVER, even before his first ten years here are up. I'm sure he can see his way to beating Auburn three times in a row.
