I hope they show Dennis Felton to the door....

After the SEC tournament concludes, I hope Damon Evans sits down and has a talk with Dennis Felton that ultimately culminates in his not returning to UGA next season.

The SEC is no longer a one-team basketball conference, and I want a piece of the action.

If Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and the Mississippi schools can start to make noise on the national stage, then there's no reason we shouldn't be getting a piece of the action for ourselves.

I disagree, I think Coach Felton has done as good a job as anyone with the players we have. He has gotten the max potential and effort from the team, we were 1-2 bench players short of being a good team. It wasn't a matter of coaching, it was just our guys would run out of gas. Most every game we had the lead in the second half at some point or where always in the game.....until about 3-5 minutes left when the team would get too tired to keep up and it all fell apart, especially on the road where the crowd was not there to give the team an extra boost....I can understand why most people will blame Felton, but after watching all the games I could, I clearly saw it was just a lack of depth.

That's been the problem with both basketball teams for the past four or five years. Other schools (Tennessee and LSU as well as the Carolina schools in women's hoops, and EVERYBODY ELSE in men's hoops) are winning the recruiting battles, it's as simple as that. It is Coach Felton's responsibility not only to recruit quality athletes, but to put a quality product on the floor that will attract the best players. A few years ago, Andy Landers made the Elite Eight with nine players...he called them the Nifty Nine. In the next year or two, we had landed Tasha Humphrey. Sundayatta Gaines by himself can't win the SEC. That's just not how the college game is played.

Hugh Durham was the best coach we ever had and we ran him off. With all the quality players coming out of the Atlanta area, one would think we could compete. Right now we're the laughing stock of the SEC in men's roundball.

dapolla, my wife and I were discussing UGA basketball recruiting over coffee this morning. We are on the same page, there are far too many recruits going to other programs. Something ain't right . . .
