More about the Leyer

So apparently Urban Leyer is under investigation by his own University for secondary violations involving his recruitment of a JuCo wideout. I hope we get more details on this sumbeesh. We all knew he was a filthy liar almost on par with Phat Phil; I'm just glad that now he's going to get in trouble for it.

As you said, it's an internal investigation only and I'd be shocked if it went beyond that.
In a nutshell, Meyer, had many conversations with WR Carl Moore's girlfriend who is now on UF's gymnastics team. The reason it's probably not a violation is because Meyer did not talk to her about her recruitment, but about her boyfriend. I'm pretty sure that he can talk to a recruit's mom, friends, girlfriend. etc.
Also, while she cannot be recruited by someone outside of her sport (gymnastics), she is allowed to talk about her recruitment to anyoneone withing the athletic department if it will help her make an informed opinion. Since she has been recruited by UF since 2005, I think that its a safe bet that Meyer did not recruit her.
This is my understanding on the situation anyway.

I don't care since UF will probably end up with the top recruiting class in the country for two years in a row. Since 50% of last year's recruits redshirted last year (and the same will happen this year), I feel really good about Coach Meyer's recruiting.

Guess the part that could really cause a problem is the fact that UM is only allowed one call per week to a proposed student athlete. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Lady friend said that many calls were made each week. Agree with you GatorinGA, UM surely was not calling to find out if Carl Moore's girlfriend was doing ok. A simple yes I am fine should have ended the calls.

Also, no doubt, UF has had an outstanding year recruiting. Personally, I think that is good. Want both teams (UGA/UF) to lock horns and the better of the two to come out on top.

Something along the lines of what the New York Giants are saying now about the NE QB . . . . they hope the foot or leg gets well, don't want any excuses if the Giants should win.

One small note . . . UGA has also had \"another\" outstanding recruiting year, and thus far, no problems with the NCAA. Go Dawgs!

Smith told the Gainesville Sun that Meyer called her daily while he was recruiting Moore, a tactic that may be a violation of NCAA bylaws.

Urban needs to recruit other positions besides WR.
