Scott and Z-Man

Well, it turns out that Larry will not be calling the Sugar Bowl, according to the latest. This means that Scott Howard and Eric Zeier will call it for UGA radio.

If this really is it, Larry, let me and the entire Bulldog Nation take this opportunity to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for forty-one wonderful years, the most memorable calls any university can boast, and the type of school spirit even the most egregious booster can't claim.

In case you didn't know, Larry, you are it. You are the pinnacle of sports broadcasting, the standard by which we as fans will for the rest of our lives measure those people lucky enough to call the game for us. Without you at the mic it will be that much harder to get the picture. There are those of us who may fall away from the radio without you at the helm, who may settle for what they spew on television, who may forget what it means not just to listen to the game, but to listen to a fan call it. We know that you enjoyed the games as much as we did. You hurt as badly as we did when things didn't go the Bulldogs' way; maybe even worse. You taught us to expect failure even in the most fool-proof situations so that when victory came it was the greatest elation we had ever experienced.

I'd keep writing, but there are no more words. And you've got to wonder, when we finally know that it's over, when we finally know that you've called your last game, where will the words come from? Will there be any left?

It's too much, and it hurts, but we thank you, and we thank you, and we thank you.

No offense to Scott and Eric, but listening to the DAWGS on the radio is just not the same without Larry:( . We (the DAWG Nation) have been spoiled for many years and NO ONE can and will ever be able to fill the seat of the Greatest Bulldawg ever!! Larry, you my friend are the GREATEST EVER!!!! You are truly going to be missed!!
