When I look at all the polls and think about it, I think it is more than obvious that the prevailing ethic in college football today amongst the media, the coaches, and the fans is that you need to be a conference champion to be able to play in the national championship game. There really weren't any dissenting voices out there. I don't have a problem with this. I was one of the ones complaining when Nebraska and Oklahoma went without winning the Big 12 in their years. However, that needs to be made a formal rule of the system if that's the way they're gonna say it's gotta be.
What I do have a problem with is all the immediate LSU nut-hugging that went on. It's like the media just swings from Les Miles's balls. They basically acted like this was a foregone conclusion, no controversey, no debate, no discussion necessary. \"What, Mizzou and West Virginia both went down? Go ahead and pencil in LSU to take on Ohio State.\" They way the casually tossed aside and dismissed the possibility of Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Georgia, or even Kansas sneaking into the game was just wrong. They should have thought about these scinarios first and not ranked us so high to begin with if they were just going to turn around and drop us.
