Oh, believe you me, I hope I am wrong. The thought of UGA playing in the national championship game at this point just seems so surreal that I refuse to accept the possibility until it actually happens. I do not want to set myself up for a big letdown.
The precident for teams going to the national title game without winning their conference has already been set by Nebraska and Oklahoma. It would not be doing anything that hasn't already happened before to send us.
I think sending the Dawgs is only appropriate. This is no ordinary season. This season was marked by upsets, surprises, and the impossible becoming possible. It is only fitting to have an impossible end that should not be to a season that should not be.
Michigan falls to Appalachian State
USC falls to Stanford
12 times an unranked team beats a top 5 team
West Virginia falls to Pitt
Missouri falls to Oklahoma
A sophmore wins the Heisman (consider it done)
So, is it not only fitting that a 2-loss team that failed to win its division plays for and wins the national championship? Of course not. That's the only thing that makes sense in this season of nonsense so far.
There is just one fundamental truth the supercedes all others that stands in our way:
A.) Most people are jackasses and morons.
B.) A above is increased 10-fold when such people are pundits who feel like they have something important to say.
C.) The voters are both people and pundits who think they have something important to say
D.) As a consequence of C.) the vast majority of the voters are jackasses and morons
E.) The voters will not vote UGA number 2.
