This past Monday I had Moh Surgery to remove a basal carcinoma from my scalp. It was successful “Thank you God”

Being bald and not prone to wearing a hat provided me this opportunity.

I will start a peel process in late June to remove the rest of the pre- cancerous spots to avoid having to have the slice and dice routine again.

Hats and sunscreen are my new life style.

Hear me now –listen to me later. No fun factor on this project!

There has been a flurry of threads on other sites about CTG and how his defenses stack up against Bama and LSU.

Taking in to account that he has only been in Athens for two years it is difficult at best to see this as an apples to apples comparison.

Both Bama and LSU have longer recruiting times to build their defenses and that CTG has but two years of SEC experience relearning the college game.

I rather look at the last two years of CWM –vs- CTG’s first two. Keep in mind that CTG was teaching a completely new defense.

There has also been talk about CTG having his “tude” rubbing off on CMR.

When hearing CMR speak this spring about this year’s team and season it shows. A very good thing!

The numbers are starting to add up in the Dawg’s favor.

Third year for AM

Second year for IC,JJ and JJ-two- insert a host of other player also in year 2
Depth building- love it !

Second year of CJT and his S & C program plus we added two gold chip assistants to the program.

Second year for CWF – we are still learning about him but my money says we will see his value this season.

Third year for CTG’s defense. Knowing CTG nature we can and will see more progress from our “D”

Our front “7” will be nothing short of awesome! Looking forward to our added depth. We will be a fresh defense for the entire game.

I have spoke of this before, this team is just plain flat out pissed and mad.

Players, coaches, trainers yes even the bus drivers.

After working to right the ship after the first two games they let down in the last two to muddy the progress made.

Time has passed but the memory of MSU last drive burns brightly with this team and coaches.

With UF last year no way would the Dawg’s leave JAX without a “W”.

Our game in Columbia, first SEC game for Mizzou.

Night game and in primetime.

Big stage.-

Dawg’s and Russ without the funky uniforms take care of business, lessons learned.

Pause and give thanks

Have a great weekend and a safe week. Enjoy a frostie or two!

So much goes into sports, football especially. Looking around and keeping my eyes on Urban Meyer and the media that totally supports anything that will move the championship trophy away from the SEC. I highlighted one paragraph from the link below, could not stomach what this reporter laid out for the public to read.

Have had more than one conversation with "gators" down this way (that happens over lunches and meetings a lot). So many stories, such a short time to get the "real message" out.

Urban Meyer knows nothing about discipline, he understands how to move "his efforts forward". I say this to Urban Meyer, as many in the Sunshine State agree with and discuss with me . . . "you ain't Nick Saban" . . . Nick Saban is the primary reason Urban Meyer left the SEC. It is not discussed openly in the print media, but Urban Meyer knew that Alabama was a tough hill to climb. Urban that "ain't" a hill, it is a "mountain". Here is hoping that Michigan and Michigan State understand that he left the SEC because he knew his "gimmicks" were no longer working in the "Deep South".

Reminds me a bit of Steve Spurrier, real full of himself and moved from Florida to the Washington Redskins. How did that turn out. Know that there will be someone to say, what about Saban and the NFL. kentdaddy, never leaving the BS alone that is Ohio State and Urban Meyer.

Zac Jackson wrote the garbage below . . . . One Man's Opinion. . . .

COLUMBUS, Ohio - New Ohio State coach Urban Meyer recently completed individual, post-spring practice meetings with every player on his roster.

Those players now know where they stand.

Like, exactly where they stand.

"It was made very clear where we are," Meyer said Wednesday.

Meyer pulls no punches and holds no regard for ego or feelings. Each 15-minute meeting included Meyer sharing an evaluation from the strength coaches, an evaluation from the assistant coaches who work closely with the player, an academic evaluation and the final answer from the man hired to be The Answer in moving Ohio State's program past the turbulence of the last 17 months and on to a bright, championship-laden future.

Meyer's high standards -- on and off the field -- have been a welcome change for some players and probably a complete culture shock to others. Meyer discussed his feelings and the results of those meetings and unveiled Ohio State's post-spring depth chart Wednesday in his first public remarks since Ohio State's spring game on April 21.

"We set the depth chart now, and we made a big emphasis with the players this spring, that it's not just about fundamental development and skill development, it's about earning a spot," Meyer said. "When we get to camp in August, it's not about developing the depth chart. It's about trying to go win a game."

Meyer said it's been his experience that talent can win a college football team "seven or eight games," and the proper discipline mixed with talent can get a team to nine wins. Getting beyond that, he said, comes down to leadership -- and he said he's stressed leadership throughout the spring and did so again in his individual player meetings.

"The leadership is not where it needs to be," he said.

In those meetings, Meyer said he and the player "sit across the table" and discuss areas of strengths and weakness and each player's role in the program. The worst thing to have, Meyer said, is any "cloudiness" about where a player stands or how he's handling his responsibilities.

"It's not always comfortable," he said.

The public release of the depth chart provides a glimpse into how some of those meetings -- and how the offseason as a whole -- might have gone. Meyer expounded upon some areas, praised his offensive line group for the strides it made in the spring and said he sees enough talent for the passing game to make strides into the fall.

"It's the competitive nature and leadership of the quarterback position," Meyer said. "If Kenny Guiton and Braxton Miller are really good leaders, you'll see a much better passing game. If they're not, you won't."

Meyer said the offense as a whole was a "clown show for about the first three weeks of spring practice" but made strides from there. He said the receiving corps entered spring practice as "probably the most unprepared group I've ever dealt with as far as practice."

Suffice to say that preparation won't be overlooked from here on out.

The new sheriff in town isn't afraid to wield his power and share his true feelings.

"Football is the same way it's been for years," Meyer said. "The toughest team, the most committed team is going to find a way a to win a game."]]>

To those who took the time and effort to share their story last week as to why they are a Dawg.

Thanks to each of you very much! I enjoyed reading each one.

My thinking is as different as we all may be as to why and how we love our Dawgs it is this very reason that makes the “Nation” strong and unique as it is.

We differ about coaches, players and play calling but let someone from outside the “Nation” toss an ill comment out about our Dawgs and faster than any bolt of lighting we will unite and defend.

I feel that we can win every game we have on our schedule if we stay healthy. Yes if and buts were candy and nuts what a wonderful world it would be!

No excuses from players or coaches. As Buc says “Coach’m Up”

Pause and give thanks

We are blessed

Projected 2012 record: 9-3
Last season: 10-4
The Bulldogs are loaded. The lines are going to be terrific, the skill players are fantastic, and Aaron Murray could be the best quarterback in the SEC if a few breaks go his way. There are superior playmakers on a strong defense led by LB Jarvis Jones and safety Baracci Rambo – even with his off-the-field issues – to be able to hang around with any team on the slate, but can the Dawgs get through the road games? The home schedule should be a relative breeze with the Georgia Tech game by far the most dangerous to worry about. Georgia is better than Missouri, but it’ll be the first SEC game in Columbia and the Faurot Field crowd will be jacked up. The Auburn trip will also be nasty meaning it wouldn’t be a shocker if Georgia lost three of their five games away from home.

Daniel Shirey - US Presswire

South Carolina Ranked Number 7.
Projected 2012 record: 9-3
Last season: 11-2
Is there going to be a more dangerous set of pass rushers in America than Devin Taylor and Jadeveon Clowney? Throw in the great set of linebackers and a secondary that should be fine without CB Stephon Gilmore, and the Gamecocks defense should be devastating. The hope is for the offense to get star running back Marcus Lattimore at 100 percent to carry the running game, while Connor Shaw – if he can hang on to the quarterback job – should be steadier and should be able to wing the ball around the yard a bit more. While the team should be at least as good as it was last year, it’s going to be a fight to get through another interesting schedule. Not only is there a midseason stretch of three road games in four weeks, but the last two games are on the road at LSU and Florida after hosting Georgia.

Jeremy Brevard - US Presswire

From a personal point of view, the game in Columbia as has been said before, going to be a war. I am excited as all get out to watch both of these two SEC Defenses get after it. Offense might prove to be interesting also.

South Carolina with the power back, Georgia with speed to burn. Columbia will be rocking. . .]]>

Nights here in Athens have been cool no humidity and perfect for long walks with Georgia around the south forty.

These walks have provided an opportunity to do so thinking about Georgia Football over the past nine years.

It is a real short amount of time compared to some on this board, and how long UGA has played the game.

One of my first questions to myself was why I became a Dawg fan?

I am not a graduate, and I was not born in Georgia or for that matter anywhere in the south. That accounts for yankeedawg1.

True I have lived in Athens for nine year and you can’t help but feel the presents of the university in your daily life.

That alone is not a reason I am a Dawg, hell Athens even lets UF & Tech grads live and work here.

I am not sure how that affects the quality of life in Athens but that’s another story for another day.

My love of football goes way back into my youth.

Growing up in upstate NY in the 50’s and 60’s college football to me was Syracuse and Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and then later Larry Csonka.

My pro team was the Giants and Y.A. then Fran T.

1977 was the year of my move to Chattanooga and the beginning of my love affair with SEC football.

With my job I traveled the southeast. Bama fans one day next UT, yes even UK and Assburn. Living in Chattanooga were some say there are more Dawg fans than those for UT kept me exposed to UGA.

Then I was blessed to meet and follow the teachings of Lewis Grizzard.

The man made sense and his love for UGA was unrestricted.

I don’t think there is a Dawg fan over 50 years old that has not heard his UG-GA on the fifty yardline story.

“That Dog will bite You”!

At the time I was more of a SEC fan first. Many third Saturday’s in October I was pulling for the Tide and not Fat Phil and the pumpkin people.

Opportunity came calling in 2003 to move to Athens.

Being a history buff I wanted to learn as much about my new home as possible. It started with the university.

It was the middle of January 2003 on a late Sunday morning that I stood on the bridge under the scoreboard and gazed at Sanford for the first time in person.

Cool but not cold and I had a large coffee, which I was enjoying and taking in the sights.

I spent a good three hours just walking the campus and downtown Athens.

Stopped in at Starbuck’s at the corner of Broad & College for a coffee refill.

As it were I had to walk back across the Sanford Bridge to get to my car, I stopped again to look at the field and stands.

I was to learn that Sanford is the epicenter of the Bulldog Nation and game day Saturday’s in Athens approached a state holiday status.

As I walked pass the Tate Center and passed two male students who both said those two magic words towards me “Go Dawgs”

I knew then I would become a “Dawg”. With each passing year my passion and love for Georgia football has grown.

With the passing of time I have become a “Dawg for life.

I understand why the activity on the board has been slow due to the time of year it is.

However there has be chatter here about of it seems that this years team has a chip on it’s shoulder and a different attitude about how it is going about it’s work.

Both players and coaches.

From what I have heard from the locals talking about our last two bowl games and the waxing in the second half of the SECG you are correct.

The players learned last season after our 0-2 start. The only way to change the conversation is winning on the field-period.

They are hungry and mad as hell about missed opportunities.

Dawgs will be ready when we travel to Mizzou.

You took time to read my story as to how I became a Dawg !

Share yours I would like to read it.

Buc, time for you to tweak your resume and apply for Adams job!

Growl. Need you to take the point on this draft Buc in “13” campaign!

Pause and give thanks, we are blessed

Saban is a recruiting genius. Because of his team’s success and the value the NFL places on his players he doesn’t have to go find recruits. They’ll find him.

Picked the above three paragraphs up on the internet. Probably many of you including myself felt the same when we watched the first round of the NFL Draft. Saban will always have the best of the best looking closely at his program. Many will end up playing for Saban and his coaches, one of which is Kirby Smart, another UGA football person that got away from Athens. Deep down, I do not think that Kirby Smart will leave Saban. Kirby Smart took a look in the recent past at UGA and he realized he was in the best possible situation. He was and is attached at the hip with Coach Saban. If Saban was ever to leave or stop coaching Alabama, Kirby Smart would be the next head coach in Tuscaloosa. Time will tell.

I always wear a happy face when we are able to move a special recruit away from Tuscaloosa and have him end up in Athens. We (UGA) are on a better footing in my opinion because there have been some major changes made in the coaching structure at UGA.

Coach Grantham has had a dramatic effect on defensive football at UGA. Hard to argue that point. Not mentioned too often in the media is the supporting cast that Grantham has put together to help him and our football team move into the elite when discussing defensive football at the college level. Appears to me that he has his right hand man or men when I look at our defensive coaches. Olivadatti in my mind has become somewhat of a “Kirby Smart” type to Grantham.

The NFL Draft would have looked a bit different had some of the UGA players opted for the league over one more year in college football. Sure hope that we can stay injury free and play heads up football this coming season. Means not only a lot to the young men in the draft, means a lot to the recruiting efforts of the Red and Black. I certainly hope that the results of Alabama having four men drafted in the first round does not work against us before the 2013 Class is officially on the dotted line. Have this strange feeling that we might be in for some serious disappointment with the results that Saban is posting on his making it to the NFL stats.

Time for the offense and defense to step it up another notch. Lots of talent on both sides of the ball, however the following season might be somewhat of a toss up, many proven players will be in the draft.

Still believe that we are going to be in for some serious Dawg Fights this season. Hoping that we can play a lot of folks and build for the future. Many of the talking heads are saying we have an easy schedule, not going to agree with that. There are several teams on our schedule that love beating us and they usually play good football or over their heads when we meet up. Florida, Auburn, South Carolina to name a few. There are others on the schedule that need to be watched closely.

This season could be a very special year for Georgia Football and I for one hope that we pull all stops out and let these young men play.

Go Dawgs, Lots of Talent . . . ]]>

It means so much to get that winning tradition back, allowing us to keep more of the top rated athletes wearing the Red and Black. Know that all of you know this, understand it probably better than I do. I spend a lot of time looking at different aspects of the game and feel that the new recruiting efforts (reaching out further and quicker than before) are being made and are beginning to show results.

I feel that the last few years we were not progressing overall, with one exception, that of course being Grantham's side of the ball. Having said that, with the small incoming class there were several outstanding gets. 2013 at this point looks very promising, and the best may yet to be announced. Appears to me that the new approach is . . . . young men we have x number of slots and those are primarly position slots. We know how Mark Richt is about honoring his word to commitments, young fellows out there (some of them) are aware also. I truly like the new way of recruiting, think it brings us closer to Alabama and their winning ways.

This year will without a doubt let us know just how far we have traveled up the recruitment ladder.

Here are the 12 SEC players who have invites to this year's draft:
•Mark Barron, Alabama
•Michael Brockers, LSU
•Morris Claiborne, LSU
•Fletcher Cox, Mississippi State
•Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina
•Cordy Glenn, Georgia
•Dont'a Hightower, Alabama
•Melvin Ingram, South Carolina
•Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama
•Rueben Randle, LSU
•Trent Richardson, Alabama
•Courtney Upshaw, Alabama

Edit: Forgot to post this. Would it not be something if Meyer gets caught with a recruiting violation his first year at the helm in Columbus? Notice the above mentioned list of NFL invitees to the draft . . . not one Florida player. Folks in the State of Florida are po'd.
