thriller, just going by what I read in print and listen to what Richt is saying in Butts-Mehre for us to watch on video.

I am in agreement if the play calling on the offense stays true to the personnel on that side. From what I gather, most of the offensive players, both backs and linemen seem to say the same thing . . . . no drastic changes. Why would we change the playbook at this time . . . . makes no sense to me.

Believe there was an understanding between Richt/Schottenheimer that UGA runs the same plays that we have ran for many years, years before Mark Richt arrived in Athens.

Takes me back to this . . . . Defensive players learned the playbook and the arm waving stopped. To a man they said they are now able to play "fast". Same applies to the offense, everyone knows the play that is called, no reason to be asking the quarterback or another player what should I do. Being able to play "fast" sometimes is better than natural talent.

Understanding is the point I am trying to make. Another reason that I don't go nuts over new recruits, meaning they are in a entirely different game than they have played prior to joining the SEC. 2015 will not see business as it was under grantham. Learning the schemes and playing "fast" requires more than either signing or not signing the LOI.

I like the way Quincy Mauger states the case.

My post was pretty much in agreement with ogredawgs post. I'm certainly not going to judge a man by something he hasn't even done yet, good or bad.

Having said that, I think it's a good idea to keep the offense pretty similar to what Bobo-Gotta-Go-Go was doing, whether any of us like it or not. Why? Because just about every kid on the team was familiar with it. I have a feeling even Bobo-Gotta-Go-Go would have made some wrinkle changes from one year to the next, as Schnottenheimer will no doubt do. Let the kids have SOMETHING familiar to key on. Build on it. Teach off of it (since your own style is "pro", no sense in going to the run and shoot, or wild cat, or spread, or whatever the current flavor is, just because "everybody else is doing it".) I'm not unhappy (or overjoyed) with what is going on in Athens right now. I just clearly understand what and why they are doing what they are doing. Did we get the right OC? I think only 'Bama will tell!

And having said THAT . . . I'm very under-joyed by the QB thingy. Time may prove me wrong . . . I sure hope so.
