TOPIC: What You Think?

yd1 good post on the flags. That for the most part shows a lack of concentration. Especially on the offensive side of the ball. I don't think for a minute that I would want to come off of the field on the defensive side and face the \"new regime\". Just know that it won't be allowed.

I agree with wlayton that there is a learning curve, you also. However when I watched the defensive unit of the last couple of years, I did not see anything close to players understanding the system. We came away with 8 wins, a tough schedule, that tells me that the athletes were there.

This year we will have several players that have dabbled in the 3/4 and a lot more that are chomping at the bits to get involved in the new system. According to most folks we have an easier schedule this year, compared to last years. If that is the case, should be able to register a better record.

Agree with the \"on the job training\" . . . there will be a lot of that. However, with the talent that is residing in Athens, might be surprising how quickly these young men come around. I look at it like this . . . it is football and most of these players have been playing since an early age. Thank goodness for some serious coaches in Athens. Erk, you gonna luv it . . . .

Thanks Buc, I said earlier that shoot for the moon it puts you among the stars. We have the talent and now the coaches to surprise anyone we play. This group is not the same as what was, even with MS and KM. In baseball it is called ABC. Don Sutton, get'm on -get'm over and get'm in. Having a \"D\" that gains a short field for our \"O\" will pay huge benifits. What won't happen is the \"D\" will not out work or out practice our \"O\". They will make each other better. Go Dawgs

There should be as much excitement on offense as there is on defense.
Coach Richt. the ball is in your court.

Have always liked your game plan averagedawg . . . . no excuses. Practice in Athens should be as tough or tougher than some of the folks we will play this year. That actually goes for both sides of the ball. Really believe that Orson Charles is going to light it up this year, not discounting the running backs either . . . I like our running backs behind this line. Game against A&M, no fluke, we have the personnel.

I agree with the opinions here for the most part.

Toughen these guys up like Marine recruits in the spring. And get plan A worked out.

From what I have read, looking for anything that bolsters UGA, came up with this, to this point. Matt drills. Apparently these drills were good before, apparently this year the coaches have moved the bar up.

Folks, I am sold personally that this year, this team is going to come out looking for a fight. Say what you want (includes me) we have not had this attitude for not one, but several years. Check the teams that we have played, especially those that are kicking our butts, I have had enough.

Losing is one thing, losing with shoulder pads and helmets down, will not work on our campus. Don't give a hoot which side of the ball it comes from, just want the Red and Black to stand up and say enough is enough. To heck with black helmets, and uniform changes . . . . come out in SILVER BRITCHES, served us well for many years. Let's play slobberknocker football.

Remember the folks that played in Athens, respect the history of the school, never, ever play for UGA and not leave a piece of your soul. If you are not sold on or attached to UGA, there are other schools that can be attended.

This old fart is tired of some of the things that I have witnessed over many years. Folks on here like . . . . had typed some names in that are here year around, but erased them.

Buc must say this . . . . my life has been good. I have accomplished some things in my life that I am proud of, some things questionable. I have never given up and appreciate the fact that the Good Lord gave me one thing . . . . Athens and the Red and Black.

Good thread here Buc & the gang!

My 2 cents:

Feel certain that CTGs defense will play that aggressive, attacking, big hitting style that we haven't seen since BVG left Athens. I can't wait! Sure, they'll make get caught out of position on occasion, give up some big plays, and cause me to use some rated R language from Sec. 326 but you know what, if we can get some 3 & outs, force some turnovers & bare with me, actually put some points on the scoreboard while our offense is sipping on Powerade, I'll take the \"learning curve mistakes\" all season long.

As for the offense, a big portion of it hinges on how quickly (or how slowly) one of our young QBs figure out how to succeed in the rugged SEC. I'm not as sold on AM as most seem to be (haven't seen enough of any of em' to truly evaluate at this early stage) but I'll just say this, may the best man win the starting job whoever it may be (LG, AM, ZM, HM, some unknown walk-on, I really don't care, just protect the football & \"manage\" the offense). My bigger concern is the playcalling of CMB. Critical year for Coach Bobo IMO. I'm obviously rooting hard for him but this jury is out. Really hope we see about 65% run to pass this year. Like wlayton, I'm not yet convinced that either Ealey or King are all-american caliber RBs but I darn sure feel confident that they are more than capable of carrying the load and being the focal point of the Dawgs offense. The only think I'm sure about concerning our offense is that AJ Green is gonna be unstoppable. He's already the best WR (by far) that I've ever seen don the Red & Black and he's only gonna be bigger, better, stronger, faster this year. Good luck SEC DBs, you're all gonna need it! Lastly, I think if CMR gets more involved in the offensive game planning we'll be even better; we shall soon see.

Anybody else here wishing that Carlton Thomas (seems to be a forgotten man) would get some more touches in space? I really think he could become an even better version of the diminutive but explosive Tyson Browning if given the opportunity.

Goose, good to have you back. Always enjoy your posts. This post no different from your others, really good.

Thought maybe I was the only one that was holding out hope for CT. Know the young man has talent, seems to be the forgotten man. I assume that he has not impressed Coach Bobo enough to rate playing time. . . .

  • 3 players dismissed by Georgia for team rules violations

ATHENS — Three players have been kicked off the Georgia football team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

UGA coach Mark Richt announced this morning that defensive back Nick Marshall, wide receiver Sanford Seay and  defensive back Chris Sanders have been dismissed from the team. All three are freshmen and were members of Georgia’s 2011 “Dream Team” recruiting class.

The school did not address what precipitated the dismissals.

“It’s a privilege to play college football and to be a part of this team and University,” Richt said in a statement. “Along with that privilege comes certain responsibilities. Mistakes were made, and part of...

  • UGA has to report NCAA secondary violation due to comments on Harvey-Clemons

ATHENS — Georgia will have to report an NCAA secondary violation regarding its recruitment of Josh Harvey-Clemons. But as far as secondary violations go, they don’t get much more secondary than this one.

Jim Booz, UGA’s senior associate athletic director for compliance, confirmed to The AJC Thursday that coach Mark Richt ran afoul of NCAA bylaws when he commented on Harvey-Clemons shortly after the highly-touted prospect announced on national television his decision to sign with the Bulldogs on Wednesday. Harvey-Clemons’ signing ceremony at Lowndes High School in Valdosta was televised live by ESPN and the sports network also had a reporter...

  • UPDATED: Harvey-Clemons never wavered on UGA, just had to convince granddad

ATHENS — Josh Harvey-Clemons said he never wavered on his decision to sign with Georgia. He just had to convince his grandfather that it was the best move.

“I just had to sit down with my family and get everybody on the same page,” said Harvey-Clemons, reached by phone Thursday morning in Valdosta. “He was looking at it as Florida was closer. I’ve got a cousin who still plays at Lowndes and my little brother is going to be in high school next year. Florida is only like an hour and 20 minutes away, so he was thinking about going to...
