How about changing the recruiting rules? 7 Months ago
Just some random thoughts on recruiting, seeing how more and more kids are playing schools off one another:

1. If a coach leaves a school after a kid has signed but before the football season starts, the kid can transfer with no questions asked.

2. Have an early signing period. I will take Da'Rick Rogers just as an example. Allow kids to sign on Nov. 1, 2009, and Feb. 3, 2010 for this class. How would this help?
--First: for all those kids who "commit" back in the summer, it will give them a chance to put their money where their mouth is. Either they sign (and then they will not be harrassed by 40 coaches for the next 3 months), OR if they don't sign, then coaches would at least know the kid is probably playing him until a better offer comes. In our example, HAD Rogers signed on Nov 1, then no one would be allowed to bother him, but if he DIDN'T sign then, at least Richt would have known that something was up, and could have gone after Coxson, Boone, and Green even harder earlier in the process.

I think it may force kids who really like a school to sign early so that the team will not end up going in another direction.

Definitely agree with #1. Also with #2.....BUT the problem with that idea is THEN the schools are going to start getting their committments in the 1st half of the year, say Jan, Feb, March, etc. So in essence all that would happen is the recruiting cycle would just be moved up......same results, they would de-commit in Nov.
