TOPIC: The recruiting finish line

Buc, appreciate the words. A little about myself: I am 42, been a DAWG since 1975. Was in the stadium and cried the moment Johnson caught Green's pass to put us in Atlanta. Graduated from UGA in 1990. I cried when HW went to the NJ Generals. I think Ray Goff ran one of the best offenses I have seen at UGA when he was HC.

I hate political correctness. I love Richt but if I feel he does something wrong I will say it-I will not blow smoke up someone's a*s just b/c I like them.

I enjoy reading your words on here....

Keep up the ngood work.

Can you believe that guy? What a jerk.

By the way, here are comments from Bobby Johnson at Vandy. Remember that Nash Nance bailed on Vandy for UT. (and we therefore lost Rogers)

On their QB recruitment: "You may have heard that we lost a guy (Nash Nance)... well we didn't lose him, we dropped him. We have our quarterback (Aaron Rogers little brother, Jordan.) and we were happy to get rid of the other one."

Ya gotta love it!!!

Guess it's all over but the shouting. We dropped to 15 in the Rivals rankings. The last several years we have had top 10 classes. My hope is that these kids REALLY want to be DGD's and will play hard and bring us all good times and smiles.

Now it is up to our coaches to do the job necessary to bring all this talent to fruition. Darn sure don't want another year like the last one.

Living in Nashville, that sure doesn't sound like something Bobby Johnson would say. If he did, then good for him!

Hey BS, you and I were at Georgia at the same time (okay, I graduated in 89.)

The way I'm looking at the recruiting thing is that I'd honestly prefer not to have the 'stars'. Anyone remember the Matt and Knowshon show? I'd prefer the David and David show, with a team full of kids who want to play, who want to play for the Dawgs, and who aren't looking at padding their personal stats at the detriment of the team.

That said, we're still the number 9 recruiting class. That's not shoddy. I'm also not concerned about where a particular player is ranked. If we didn't get the number 1 player, are we really going to be upset with the number 5? Too much subjectivity there. There are too many stars that end up crashing and burning. I'll take the five hearts over the five stars any day. GO DAWGS.

limey, pretty much agree with you. but chew on this: i heard a study done shows that 25% of 5 stars make All American whereas 6% of 3 and 4 stars do.

Now, forgive me but I don't recall where I heard that but it was this morning.

I do like the three stars who work hard. BUT, look at the championship teams every year. They all have a star at each level on defense: DL, LB, and DB. A 4/5 star caliber playmakers.

We do need to rack up next year. Back to back "3 star" classes will cost Richt his job.

I was an Economics major, how about you? Lived in Russell / Oglethorpe my first three years before I got an apt.
