TOPIC: We are about to make history

We are about to make history

#1 3 years, 5 months ago
The storied Georgia Bulldogs football program is about to make history once again.

We have a chance to accomplish a feat that has never been achieved in the history of college football.

What is this great honor that is about to be bestowed upon us, you ask?

When the Georgia Bulldogs lose their bowl game, they will have the dubious distinction of becoming the first team in college football history to begin the season ranked #1 and finish the season unranked.

I have come to realize.. all blogs and forums have their own village idiot. After reading most of the posts by ugachemdawg it hasn't taken long to see who ours is. Congrats ugachemdawg you win the dubious honor of our very own village idiot award. Your negativity and countless bonehead remarks have earned you this great honor. You are now 1 small rung on the ladder above Tech fans. Congrats and keep up the great work!! (note the sarcasm at the end)

I don't think it is necessary to attack other members of the board. ugachemdawg has a right to his opinion. An opinion which may very well come true.

I read these boards and some fans are saying \"We should be happy because it was worse during the Donnan era.\" The problem is I think we may be on the cusp of being back there unless things change. As of right now we are 9-3 with losses to the 3 best teams on the schedule. Last season we lost to 2 mediocre teams one of the loses wasn't even competitive. This post season I have doubts about even winning our bowl game. The possibility of being the first preseason #1 team to end the season unranked is real.

Most of us are hoping it doesn't come to this but a good deal of us have taken off the rose colored glasses and are not happy with what we see.
Go Dawgs!!!!

with over a month to perpare, CWM should have a plan put together by bowl time.
The only problem if we play Mich State, they have a running back in the Heisman race as we do. With our D, he may run all over us and if they have any passing game to go along with the run, we are in trouble.

Although I wont go to the extremes that chemdawg goes to with his negativity I still believe you are giving willie martinez too much credit, he had two weeks to get ready for a run only offense and still couldnt do it. If we play Mich st it will be a repeat of the sugar bowl a few years ago when we played WVU, if we keep them under 300 yards I will consider it a good day.

Clearly we have defensive problems.
The offense has played great.

You know guys.....I think even CWM could come up with a scheme to stop ONE player (if we play MSU)......well, it's a possibility......well, he may slow him down.....well, maybe the RB will get hurt.......OH NEVERMIND, CWM CAN'T STOP ANYBODY.

AJC - Bulldog Beat

  • NCAA golf and tennis underway at UGA, softball on Friday

ATHENS — I’m over here in the press box at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex watching the No. 6-seeded Georgia women take on 11th-seeded Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tennis Championships. The Lady Bulldogs won the doubles point, so it’s 1-0 and Georgia is up a set at all six singles positions.

Georgia Tech’s women’s team played earlier today and lost to No. 9 California 4-0. That ends the Yellow Jackets’ season at 16-12. The men get underway tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I’ll take this opportunity to catch you up on some other news happening in and around Athens and UGA...

  • UGA golfers hopes to ride wave of good karma through NCAA regionals

ATHENS — The NCAA Men’s Golf Regional at the UGA Golf Course is underway today and the Bulldogs are feeling good about advancing to the NCAA Championships.

And why shouldn’t they? There has been a lot of good karma oozing out of the Bulldogs’ clubhouse  at the Boyd Golf Center here lately.

University of Georgia golfers or alums have been winning tournaments all over the place for the past year or so, including those played right there off their back porch. Two weeks ago Hudson Swafford holed a bunker shot on the 72nd hole and shot a final-round 62 to...

  • Florida influence apparent in managment style of UGA’s Greg McGarity

ATHENS – There are some nervous coaches around Georgia’s athletic department these days. That tends to happen when the coach of perennial top 10 program abruptly resigns the week after finishing 11th.

Georgia gymnastics coach Jay Clark offered his resignation shortly after meeting with UGA athletic director Greg McGarity on May 4 and it served as an overture to his staff. Clark had two years remaining on a five-year contract he signed when he succeeded ultra-successful head coach Suzanne Yoculan in 2009.

The Gym Dogs weren’t awful under Clark, not by a long stretch. But they fell well short of the standards...

  • No. 2 seed Georgia ready again to rock NCAA tennis championships

ATHENS — For a little while there, the horrifying thought of not being able to play in the NCAA Championships while hosting them entered the minds of the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday. But just as quickly, the No. 3-ranked and No. 2-seeded Bulldogs put that notion to rest and steamrolled Florida State in singles to advance to this week’s Round of 16.

Georgia (25-2) lost the doubles point in its second-round match against Florida State on Sunday afternoon. But in the matter of an hour it was clear the Bulldogs weren’t in mid-stumble toward a face plant. The Bulldogs quickly regained...
