The job of a position coach is to develop the talent of his players. One of the jobs of the head coach is to surround himself with a staff that enhances his weaknesses. CMR is weak on defense, does CWM strengthen CMR's weakness. I would say he does, but not to the extent that is needed.
Recruiting is a big part of talent development. Have we recruited secondary talent that can be developed? I do not know. I do know that we let a GA kid go to TN, Eric Berry, and he is one of the best in the SEC at his position.
Maturity is a big part of a teams success. We have a young team that still needs to mature and come into their own.
Also, there needs to be someone on the coaching staff that is the bad guy. They can't all be good guys. Someone has to raise HE.... with these kids and push them to play with passion, hunker down when it gets tough. I do not see that we have a bad guy on the staff. By "bad guy", I mean in their face when it comes to mistakes and effort. Pushing the kids to be the best they can be. I do not mean causing trouble or being disruptive.
These are some of our weaknesses, as I see them. They can be corrected, and I think they will be corrected.
We are 9-2, hoping for 11-2. Not a bad year. My only regret for this year is we did not beat the gators. We aint always played pretty football, but we have won. Our only losses are to the #1 and #4 teams in the country. That aint so bad.

We didn't really lose Eric Berry...he had family ties to UT, he was always going there. Irony.....CWM actually DOES get in some guys faces...really works huh? I agree, 11-2 is fantastic normally but they WAY we got whipped by Bama and UF just really takes away from the season for me. Getting beat that badly tells me 2 things....1. we aren't as good as we thought and 2. the SEC is down this year(with the exception of UF and Bama).

11-2 is good, but to get to that next level, we have to win the SEC East, then the SEC Championship Game. If we keep doing that, we will get our shot at the Nat. Championship. Anything short of that is short of our goal. I bet our nemisis down in Gainesville or Baton Rouge is disappointed in anything less. Our team has to expect that also, especially with the talent we put on the field on Saturdays. We should have a shot next year also.... even if we don't have MS. Remember when UT had Peyton Manning and he graduated? UT won NC the next year. We have a very capable guy who will be a Senior next year and a lot of talent. We should be OK for quite a few years. We have to strive for the big prize while the window is open.

I am trying to steer a steady course. A loss is a loss but our two losses were terrible.

Yeah, what really makes this season somewhat of a disappointment to me is the way we lost our two games. Close, competitive losses are one thing, but getting blown out twice in the same year is hard to stomach. If we lost those two games by a field goal, and didn't have to go to the last play to beat AU and UK, I think the entire fan base would have a much more positive outlook.
