Sadly what I see happening is that we will beat an over-rated Florida squad (good, but not #2 good)....

Richt will pound his chest about proving that UGA can beat a ranked team (once every 6 years), and we will give him a 10 year extension and keys to the city.

Then come 2013 we will be a 7-5 squad.

We won't beat Florida. You will be saying the same after the Kentucky game.

I actually think it would be better for change if we DO end up going to the SEC championship game.

If UF beats South Carolina and we win out, we will face Bama and most likely get spanked. This will knock us down to at least the Capital One bowl where we'll probably lose to some Big 10 team, much like Michigan State from last year. Ending the season with 2 losses again will leave a bitter taste n the fans' mouths and be a perfect set up for the 5 losses we have coming next year with Bama and LSU returning to the schedule. If that isn't enough to get Richt canned and the program gutted, I do not know what is.

Now, suppose South Carolina beats UF and so do we. South Carolina goes to the SEC championship game and gets stomped by Bama and ends up with 2 losses. Bama goes to the national championship game and we, as the SEC's only one-loss team, go to the Sugar Bowl. If we win in New Orleans, you better believe Richt is getting at least 2-3 more years.

In my mind, the only way CMR can redeem himself at this point is to win the national championship. Even if we won the SEC, I'd still say he needs to hit the road if we lose the BCS title game, because there is no excuse for an SEC champion to do that in this day and age.

gaytors beat sc and we might be suprised how easy they do it....

lots of different thoughts out there and AD5 makes some good points in his post. I say the players will man up and play lights out against the gaytors in spite of inferior coaching, and we back into another SEC east....

I don't think we've beaten an undefeated Florida team (or a Florida team that was ranked higher than us, for that matter) since Reagan was president.

Would be nice to score a victory over UF in a season when they are actually good.

Edit: Yep, last time we met an undefeated Florida team in Jax and came away victorious was 1985. However, they tied with Rutgers 28-28 in their second game of that season. So, while they had no losses before us, they also failed to win all their previous games.

To find the last time we beat a Florida team that had won all their games prior to facing us, you have to go all the way back to 1966. This was, incidentally, Spurrier's Heisman season.

The '85 game I believe UF was ranked #1 when Worley and Henderson romped all over them as freshmen.

I was at the '66 game (tenth grader) when Stanfill and Patton just about killed Spurrier......really a beating....literally.
