I said it years ago and I'll say it again :

UGA will never win the National Championship as long as Mark Richt is head coach.

...and we'll never win even the SEC so long as our strategy involves "hoping" the other team in the east loses two more games.

Hey Richt, watching more film does not fix blocking and tackling anymore than me watching porn makes me a porn star. At some point the word "ACTION" comes in to play.

The reason that I am pasting the article below is this . . . .

Many of the points that are made in the article come not from this board, although we have covered all of them, it comes from an outside source.

My point is folks on this board know what they have seen, especially when mentioning playing tough competition and the results. Coming down too hard on Mark Richt because of one loss this season, I don't think so. Losses like the South Carolina loss have come too frequently in the last 5 or 6 years.

Article points out a subject that has been discussed on this board many times. That of the Peter Principle.

That's what's frustrating sometimes. Some actually think this is coming down to hard because of one loss, and they just don't get it at all. It's not because of this one loss... It's because of the times last season when we didn't show up and EMBARRASSED the G on the helmet.
It's because of the same thing the year before, and before. It's about not having an offensive line for seemingly forever. It's about UCF and Mich State in bowl games. It's about losing to SC three times in a row.

I would even go so far as to say it's not about losses... It's about a team losing because
they were totally unprepared. It's about a team quitting in the middle of games.

At least this article correctly points out "But honestly, that game is just the latest in a long line of disappointing losses against quality opponents in recent years."

Buc,
Very good article. We all have said these same things. We see them because we are so close to the program. But when an outsider points the same facts out, it makes me scratch my head and ask why the powers that be can't see it. One statement sums it all up:
Since 2008—Richt’s second full season as solely a head coach—Georgia has lost 16 of 18 games against teams that finished the season ranked in the top 25.

TN Dawg, the part of the article that you put in bold type is stuck in my brain. Richt had been relieved of many things that were supposedly holding him and the team back. That was the orginal meeting between McGarity and Richt, when McGarity said to Richt, tell me what YOU want done to improve this football team.

Don't mean this to be ugly, just a phrase that is sometimes used. Give a man enough rope and he might hang himself. Richt was given enough rope, about the hang part, that falls on McGarity.
