The Schedule

Hi, folks. Sorry I've been gone so long. Go Dawgs.
Here's the deal with our schedule: it's incredibly weird, but weird in a very good way. We play two Little Sisters of the Poor in the first three weeks in Buffalo and FAU, who sandwich Missouri. We then head to Tennessee to play Vandy and the Vols, making it October 6 before we meet South Carolina in Columbia.
To my mind, that makes it October 6, 2012 before Georgia is in real danger of not being undefeated. With three SEC wins already under our belt at that point - the most challenging of those being Mizzou - we'll be ranked in the top 7 easily, possibly top 5. And with our defense and offense clicking at that point, we have a really good shot at actually beating Spurrier this year.
I'm going to go ahead and call it: if we beat SCarolina, we will go into the SEC Championship Game undefeated. Florida and Auburn are always a threat, of course - hell, we haven't beaten Florida twice in a row since the '80s - but I think we'll be able to do it. Meanwhile, the West will once again be beating up on itself; well, on itself and Texas A&M. They're not going to have any idea what hit them, having to play Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Arkansas every year; hell, with Dan Mullen at the helm at MSU, that might be five built-in losses EVERY YEAR for A&M.
Score predictions, you ask? Okay:
UGA 56, Buffalo 7
UGA 35, Mizzou 17
UGA 48, FAU 21
UGA 21, Vandy 13
UGA 27, Tennessee 14
UGA 21, SCarolina 18
UGA 45, Kentucky 10
UGA 48, Ole Miss 17
UGA 24, Auburn 20
UGA 35, GSU 28 (Southern will be in playoff mode at that point; they will NOT be easy to beat)
UGA 41, Tech -12
I'm just making regular season predictions this time around, folks. I'll take a look at Western schedules more in-depth before I make my SEC Championship Game predictions. But I'm calling the East for Georgia this year.
Thoughts?

Know that you meant to post a score for UGA/UF, thinking that could be very close. Florida defense has a lot of speed, and UGA putting a lot of points on the board in JAX will have a large portion of the State of Florida in an uproar. Will also cause Muschamp further problems regardless of the fact that Urban Meyer left him a lot of problems.
Like the way you think dapolla, more than ready to read your posts again . . .

Not predicting the Florida game was an accid...okay, okay, so it was more like a Freudian slip. Look, I personally think we're way WAY better than Florida this year...just like we were in 2002, 2003 and 2005. And look how THOSE games turned out. Better to not make any prediction at all; at least then I can't accuse myself of jinxing the damn thing!

Again dapolla, after reading your last post, welcome back.
If we take into consideration that "most" or "a lot" of folks that believe in the 4 and 5 star athletes as being the cream of the crop, Florida for the past several years has kicked our butts. Many or most of those players are still there. Proves a point that some on this board have made, those *****'s don't always prove to be the "real deal".
A phrase that is sometimes used on this board is not just for show, means exactly what it says . . . . Coach'em Up! That is one of the downfalls of Urban Meyer, he neglected to do what he was hired to do. Spent much of his time readying himself for Ohio State after the downfall in Columbus. Many that were responsible for Florida flying high left UM and hooked on with other unversities. All one needs to do is check the point where UM was actually betraying UF. Not sticking up for Florida, but sure as heck know what happened in Gainesville under UM.
Many think that we have a problem in Athens with the "Coach'em Up" reasoning. 2012 will allow all of us a better insight as to whether or not we are not getting the most out of our players from a coaching standpoint. Comes a time when excuses don't carry the mail.
I agree with your Missouri prediction, have stated a score close to that on this board earlier. Will say this, come out of Columbia West without a victory . . . . the boat will certianly begin to rock. They do not have the talent we have either, as you pointed out in your post when referring to Florida. Coaches have to have this team chewing nails prior to that game, could decide our season . . . . and some coaching jobs. Here is hoping that we rain on Missouri's parade.
Go Dawgs and . . . . "Coach'em Up!"

dapolla, welcome back, you've been missed!
Anyways, agree that we handle Mizzou by more than the "experts" are calling for; hoping we pull away in the 2nd half with our superior depth. USC game is where the East will be won or lost no doubt (tough call here). We had better beat the Gators AGAIN.
For me though, it's all about our O-line & RBs this season. If we can move the chains on the ground, control the clock, & keep our Defense fresh, no reason we can't go 12-0. If it's all on Murray's shoulder to execute Bobo's all or nothing play calls of bomb left, bomb right, or bomb down the seam, then I think we're looking at a 2-3 loss regular season.
Give me a running game, give me some high percentage play calls, give me the Junkyard Dawgs defense, & I'm preparing for a Red & Black tailgate party in downtown ATL on Sat. Dec. 1st.
