Actually, Buc, 'Bama did win the national title in 1992 under Gene Stallings.
The other time Dooley had a shot at a National Championship was 1976, when Ray Goff's SEC champs lost to Pitt in the Sugar Bowl. One poll awarded Dooley's Dawgs the 1968 national title.
We WERE screwed out of a shot at the national title in 2007, but the most egregious screwing was the 1946 undefeated, untied SEC champs being denied the title in all but one poll.
Mark Richt is too good a person to win multiple national titles because - shocker! - he refuses to cheat. How many severe recruiting violations under Richt? Zero. Most of the secondary violations Richt has incurred involved texting rules which are now obsolete. You have to cheat to win in college football, folks, and that's why Georgia is stuck at this level, NOT because of Richt's coaching talent. It's his recruiting ethics that hold him back. Take it to the bank.

Interesting take dapolla, can't argue that point.....btw, glad to see you back. Funny, just read a short piece in the paper this morning about a Pittsburg sports agent, Ralph Cindrich, that blatantly called Saban a cheater......stating on a radio show to "give him a break, I know what goes on in college football"........gotta love it him calling out Saban....don't ya??

wlayton watched the full interview with Cindrich earlier this week. Made a lot of bold statements and when he was pinned down to the issues, made a complete fool of himself. As he is an agent now, looking for all the publicity he can get. Going to be a lot of piling on and whistle blowing going on for a while.

wlayton, it floored me when I watched this thingy on television. Know that I am retired and get to look around more than most on this board. Below is a link that I think anyone interested in should read or listen to. Cincrich bounces around more than a ping pong ball. Some of the folks north of the Mason-Dixon are having a hard time with the South kicking their collective butts. This was supposed to be about Penn State and Cindrich really made a fool of himself when trying to defend Joe Pa and others. Needs to spend some time with Sandusky in the shower and see if that makes an impression on him.
Go to the link below and move down the page to the Cincrich statements.

Edit: wlayton if anyone is interested, kentdaddy and I had a long conversation on this board about the NCAA and our beliefs some time back. Most of the back and forth was the NCAA and Ohio State. We are in agreement.

Yep, classic case of "sour grapes"........although don't doubt things that go on that are swept under the rug.
Defended Joe Pa and PSU???????......come on, take off your blinders, are you kidding me??
Love to read what you and kd talked about.......sure very entertaining.
Thanks for the link Buc......crazy, huh?

wlayton, if I could ask Cindrich one question, knowing how I go on, would probably be more than one.
If Cindrich knew that Saban and others were not living up to the rules, why did he not turn him/them in at that point.
He is doing the same thing that the President, Athletic Diretor, Head Football Coach and some board members at Penn State did in the Sandusky case.
Amazes me he wants to talk "cover up". Brother talk about a classic case of the kettle calling the pot black.
Cindrich the "sports agent" and the friends he refers to in the same business do not seem to be the brightest bulbs on the tree. Believe I could invest my gatherings in a better place. . . . Sorry for this . . . what an idiot this piece of work is.

SEC envy will only increase as college football implements the four team playoff.
Love 'em or hate 'em, Alabama has set the standard for SEC football.
Although we had a great team in 2007, I felt we weren't worthy of a shot at the title, considering our horrible game against Tennessee.
