Really looking forward to Vandy and Franklin in Athens this season.

Interesting article in the AJC about Jonathan McCrary spurning UGA and others to enter Vandy. Headline there to draw clicks. What was not said in the article was that Jonathan said back in the beginning of the recruiting process that he wanted to attend a school that had an opening at quarterback. Did not want to sit. At best he would have sat two years at UGA or longer. That is a simple truth, just look at his comments prior to the AJC headline looking for attention.

Franklin is playing this out for all it is worth. Never quite sure which side of his mouth is opening from, always someone else that is wrong.

Franklin had some comments about West Point, about Grantham, about Tennessee, about every person or coach that he has ever been around, strangely enough, he has always been right. Keeps close contact with his players, yep, I believe that is a true statement.

Mario Alford will be visiting in Athens this weekend. The 5'11 185 speedster who is currently enrolled at Georgia Military College stated, "I talked to Coach Lakatos and he told me he thinks I am a hell of a player. He wants to coach me at corner," said Alford. "I am going up to Georgia on Saturday and then leaving on Monday. I am hoping they offer me, because if they do, I am going to commit."

Read an article in the AJC this morning that got my attention. Remember the young fellow that was injured and basically had his scholarship, I will call it modified, rather than pulled. Lots of hoopla about Saban and his tactics. With all of the media hype on that situation, one would think that these young, skilled players would be wary of Saban and his way of doing business.

Goes to show that a winning program can pick and choose, and will do so as long as the rules allow it. One of the top running backs in Georgia commits to Alabama. Check his reasons for wanting to play in Tuscaloosa. Football has changed over the years, but some aspects have remained in place for more years than I can remember.

An example could be Notre Dame. Back in the day, it was automatic that a young football player if called upon to attend Notre Dame, was almost an automatic. Why? Tradition and winning football games. That is what Saban has going for him in Tuscaloosa. Young man walks the halls where Bear Bryant and now Saban patrols, hard not to see the 13 Championships that are displayed. Couple of National Championships in the past three years. Those championships come from hard work and having the right coaches in the right area. That is not a slam at anyone, it is merely saying that the leader of the football team not only talks the talk, he walks the walk.

Keep talking about building that fence around the State of Georgia, yet I still see these skilled athletes getting on board with that group in Tuscaloosa. Will we lose two more of the top football players in the country to Saban, beginning to look like that might be the case.

I think that the way things are these days that tradition is out the door, rather its what can you do for me now, today, this minute. If you start winning big games they'll be here,if not the recruits will go wherever they are winning. Tradition for the young folks is something that old folks talk about, they could care less. Its just win, and get me paid. Sad, but true. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want to get off the subject, but it is not just in sports. Most people are not committed to work, family, church,_______( you fill in the blank ).

Back to sports. Free agency has killed the sports world. Players are not loyal to an organization, they play for the higheat bidder. When is the last time you have heard of a player finishing his career with the organization he started with. I can think of only a few in recent years...Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and John Elway. Maybe Hines Ward will fallow that.
