From Athens - Game Day Friday # 2 9 months 1 week ago #1

Good Morning All,

First some house cleaning from my Wednesday’s post.

I was thinking about using the words excessive flatulence rather than whining but it would have not worked with the cheese thing as well.

That might also have upset those of us who are old farts like myself and caused a greater discourse.

After spending the last 36 hours researching whining I have learned that the PC police have changed this and now is called the “Complaint Choir”.

Goggle- whining and you will find a great amount of information about how to complain without whining and the vast difference between the two.

You will also note that we all and that would include me have whined in our lives about someone or something.

For those who felt disrespected notice I never used the word whiner. I was addressing the collective message of several posters as being redundant negativity - or whinning IMO.

Keep in mind that Buffalo was the stem of the apple and that the real fruit is this week’s game.

We may not have played in a fashion that we would have liked however: we won.

Without question we all have the right to disagree with anyone options that are posted here.

As Buc pointed out last year – It is fine to disagree without being disagreeable.

For me that includes avoiding name calling and the pissing contests that follow. This then reverts to questioning ones IQ and manhood and goes south from there.

Earl Weaver –

I became an optimist when I discovered that I wasn't going to win any more games by being anything else.

We know that Missouri is the “Show Me State”

This is just what we need to do.

I was enjoying some Lynchburg Lemonade last night on the patio and the past voices from the 2008 Sugar Bowl popped into my head.

I remember all the hype coming out about how Colt Brennan and Hawaii were going to pass and run us to death yada yada.

Understanding that Mizzo is not from the WAC and all that, however in my mind much of the noise coming from Mizzou sounds the same. I will take a repeat of the score and results from the “08” SB.

Russ is ready- I agree Buc Russ will always be Russ.

We knew him when but I am pleased that he was upgraded to UGAIX status. Good move by those who made it happen.DGD!!!

Time to find out if the way we played Buffalo was a “Sting” operation or we were just flat and missing the suspended players.

May have been a bit of both.

This game would qualify as a must win for us. For many reasons!

Prime time on a big stage. Bang or Bust?

I still like us by two scores.

CTG real defense shows up in Columbia as well as AM and the offense.

ST Coach “O” will have a plan for another big kick return. On that subject Coach “O” has put the pride back in playing on ST. A very good thing!

Just win baby

Our Team-Our Time- No Regrets – Come on Dawgs make these words stand up

Excessive Flatulence -is a football spectator foul – you will have to leave the room for two plays and you banned from the 7 layer bean dip for remainder of the half.

Pause and give thanks

Have great weekend and a safe week

As always “Go Dawgs”

Yankeedawg1, read your “Blue Plate Special” a couple of times hoping that I came away with the crux of your message, hoping not to change your message with my ramblings.

I have the feeling from your thoughts that as you refer to a certain “word” that maybe both sides of the coin were flipped. Very easy to get perturbed with what one calls constant chatter on the same subject.

Think it is probably well known that I tend to wear my feelings on my sleeve, say what I truly think when faced with a decision. It is not a usual thing that I do here, but here goes.

Thriller was incredibly upset with the outcome of the play against Buffalo, went so far as to go to the closet or basement and find the paper sack to put over his head again. From where I sit, if I had a stashed bag somewhere, after the first half of that game, I would have changed my avatar also.

Just to go along with what I said, for our coaches to enter the half time locker room and bring as I have come to understand it, scathing remarks about the abysmal play for the most part concerning the leaders of the team. When Mark Richt walks off the field at halftime, being confronted as all coaches are by the media, says in no uncertain terms that he is not a happy camper, that not only gets my attention, it hits the airways and the voters start to line up, whether pro or con. That is not the Mark Richt that I have watched over the many years of his leadership.

When the Head Coach is unhappy, the Defensive Coordinator is unhappy and they let it be known, has a similar effect on the Red and Black Nation. Does not take much to tilt the cart and lose most of the apples that were collected before the lead Dawg expressed a very unusual view of a team that he coached.

I also agree with you on the point of carrying things too far. That will never stop as long as all of us have computers, and of course “opinions”.

What I did see was absolute concern on the part of the posters that were more than a bit "pp'd" about the lack of effort. I have concerns about AM and stats for example, hoping that I am wrong, but I said it. Great believer in team play, have always been that way and think most here are the same.

How good is Missouri . . . . Beats me. How much will the crowd noise come into play in this upcoming game . . . . Beats me. Just how good is our team that is ranked at #7, don’t know, we have not played anyone with talent across the board at this point. Much will be learned about Georgia football during and after the game with Missouri.

My suspicions are that we are going to see hitting and hard play that will equal or come close to some of our more physical games. This I like, as long as it is played by the rules. Will say again, my main worry is always the throwing of the cloth. I remember well AJ in the end zone against LSU, made me want to take the “paper bag” off of the official that made that call. Let the players play, the coaches coach.

Thanks for your remarks, I read everything that is posted here and am a proud member of this board. As you say yd1, we all slip, it hits some harder than others.

Sometime back think I posted that we would or could win by two touchdowns, no reason to change that, but as many on here have said, if we win by one, rack’em up, lets get ready for the next one.

Anyone that sees a Veteran when out enjoying Chic-Fil-A or your favorite sandwich, shake their hand, you will see the face of a True American light up. For them that is like winning the game.

Go Bless . . . . Go Dawgs! Russ, need this one badly . . . :)

Edit: Picked this up from the front page of our board.

Good morning Bulldog Nation,
I hope that everyone is not as nervous as I am. As Tom Petty wrote, "The waiting is the hardest part". Posted and read lots of comments about UGA's first game. Repeat FIRST game. Expectations were high as expected. I along with most watched with disbelief as Buffalo marched the ball methodically down field in the first half. Also watched as their D stymied our O. We did not play as we were led to believe we would. But, it did give us a baseline for comparison. That is the past. Let's concentrate on the future.

YD1 reminded me how I felt before the '08 SB against Hawaii. Much the same way as I do right now now. I was unsure of our potential. I have been told this team is "the one". It may be, I don't know. I have been told that before. Only time will tell. The Missou game will go a long way in showing us how good UGA really is. I don't have control over a lot of things, however I can control how I support the young men donning the red & black. They have my full support.

I sense a different swagger in the '12 Dawgs than I have in the past. Play hard boys we need this one!

Hey, yd1, great post as always!

I'm probably the original Whiner on this board - I won't run from it - I did it. I can't wait until Sunday morning, so I can get back on this board and put my avatar back on PROUDLY, and devour that cheese that goes so well with my whine. I'm sure CMR, CMB, and CTG are all going to prove me out to be not only a sniveling WHINER, but will show us all just how shrewd they were in making sure we didn't show anything against Buffalo.

I may be a whiner, filled with "hot air", but I'm excited to be proven WRONG! After all, I'm a DAWG FAN!!!!

GATA!!!!!! Go DAWGS! :)

Great Post yd1!

Buc, I feel we win by two TD's as well, maybe three. It maybe close at half, maybe we lead by a TD, but I think the third and fourth quarters will be ours, and TG and KM will run wild, and we win going away.

My Glass half full view anyway,
My two cents...

GO DAWGS!!!

WoodstockDawg, one of my main concerns takes me back to last season. Conditioning. It appears to me that we are two deep on the defensive line and that for sure is a plus.

Might be wrong, don't believe that Missouri can go toe to toe with us along the lines of scrimmage and win. Going to see a lot of "wide stuff", trying to wear our front out. I am a great believer in position football, the way that most coaches teach the game. Stop the run at all costs and then we have Missouri playing to what should be at this point our strength . . . . the linebacking corps. Defensive backs have some maturing to do, imperative that our front seven are primed and ready for a Dawg fight.

If we can force Franklin to move out of the pocket, throw on the run, or simply run, believe Grantham and his gang are going to have some "fun" film clips that his defense is going to review on Monday. Could be as you say, three TD's.

Have said this numerous times, maybe should not again, but what the heck . . . . tightends could change the way this game ends up being played.

thriller, I admire your pp and vinegar, at my age I can only check men like you out and think back to my younger days. Don't change your enthusiasm my friend. I truly enjoy reading your posts and a whiner you are not. Exciteable . . . . maybe . . . ;)

I feel like a basket case right now! We're talking about a team that went 7-5 in the Big 12 last year...the biggest positive difference for Mizzou in this years team and lasts is the addition of a stud freshman wide receiver. BUT what good does a stud receiver do you if you can't get him the ball (3 catches, 32 yds against SE Louisiana)because you have a patchwork o-line protecting your QB (granted, the same could be said of our o-line.) Yeah, we got a few guys out on defense, but like Buc said, our two deep looks solid and most of our 2nd stringers would be starters for Mizzou.

I see zero, repeat ZERO, reason on paper why we shouldn't run away with this one...

...yet I'm more nervous about this game than I can remember being in a long time. I swear I'm gonna age at least 2 years between now and 8:00 tomorrow night.
