To AD McGarity. Like what I am seeing about CMR's contract. I am a CMR fan, but he doesn't deserve more money because he came close to winning the SEC.

Heck, I would even say lower his contract, and make his pay mainly performance based.

Good job Mac. I have seen to many AD's make the mistake of throwing more money at a coach over a good season. Give them the opportunity to make more, but make them earn it. This is the way it should have always been.

AllDawgs5, after reading the article about Richt's (almost finished) contract, really adds to my feelings that UGA made a seriously good move when hiring McGarity. I already had my head set that there would be a significant raise.

You are totally right about not only Richt, every coach whether D1 or whatever level, earn that jack. Apparently the administration eased some of the contract rules where Mark Richt can earn extra dollars through commercial work.

If McGarity, Richt, Grantham and the rest of the gang come together as a unit, maybe we see some serious results.

There does seem to be a problem at the present with ticket sales. Makes me think that many folks want to see us move up in the SEC, consistently.

I feel that Missouri is a good team with a good coach. Not overlooking them but . . . South Carolina looms in the distance, a very good team with a coach that loves to beat UGA. Monetary positions for coaches can and will change if we go to both Columbia's and win. Have a lot to say about Muschamp, will save that for later.

Wow, I guess a snowball must be freezing somewhere, because believe it or not, I agree with BOTH wlayton and AD5. I didn't know if that would ever happen.

But seriously, I also think EVERY contract in sports should be performance based, pretty much as well as any paying job in the market. Good on ya, Mc.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. I think the coaches earn their money. Don't know many people who would want their earning potential tied to 18 & 19 year old kids. The coaching part is not the toughest part. It's the babysitting.

But I do like to idea of money being earned for reaching goals. My job is that way and I am willing to be many others on this board are the same way. Getting paid for meeting the minimum standard allows for complacency. And that is not a good thing.

Just my opinion.
