As for the upcoming year, I expect big things from our Dawgs. It's funny, before this past season, we were all discussing our projections for the future and I posted that I was looking for 10-2 in 07 and 08 would be our NC year, and I still believe that. While I may have gotten lucky with 07's prediction, I fully believe we have the talent to run the table in 08. The challenge I see for the coaches will be to find that fine line between confidence and arrogance and make sure the players walk it each and every week. I still think we got a little cocky after spanking OSU and that's what did us in against USC. I don't see minor injuries playing much of a role, I think we have excellent backups at every spot. I think Coach Martinez has finally found what is necessary to make a defensive BEAST. The schedule is the biggest stumbling block I see. Not just ours, but the easier schedules of the likes of Southern Cal and the OSU and the usual suspects. 08 probably won't be the same as 07 with the top teams losing every week, so we are going to have to run the table, only lose 1 close one at the most. I think good checkpoints will be our first off week and after LSU. If we are 5-0 by our bye week (before UT), and we should be, we should have great confidence going into the meat of the schedule. Then, if no bad breaks happen, and we beat LSU in the bayou (which we should), I think the momentum will be unstoppable. Luckily, most of the players this year will be back, and they will know the agony of just missing out on the NC, and they will remember the perils of not being prepared for EVERY game. I'm really looking forward to the season, and I expect Coach Richt will bring us home the hardware he, and the team, and the entire Dawg nation, so richly deserves. Vanderbilt 2007 Preview
This could be the year Vanderbilt snaps its painful string of 24 consecutive losing seasons. When you combine a roster loaded with experience, some star power and a schedule that features eight home games, you have all of the necessary ingredients for a six- or seven-win season in Nashville.
-
Arkansas 2007 Preview
The Heisman Trophy runner-up and Doak Walker award winner, Darren McFadden, returns to a team that won the SEC West. So does Felix Jones, another 1,000-yard rusher. The hopes of the 2007 Arkansas season rest on the shoulders of these two backs as the entire Razorback nation looks to get over a turbulent offseason.
-
Florida 2007 Preview
Those young Gators will have to grow up quickly if they hope to come close to duplicating the success of last season. Florida must replace virtually all of its defense and a four-year starter at quarterback. The Gators face a rough schedule that features home games against Tennessee, Auburn and Florida State, the annual tussle with Georgia and a visit to LSU.
-
Georgia 2007 Preview
There are exclamation points ? most notably the return of a more seasoned Matthew Stafford ? and there are also question marks. The offensive line is inexperienced, the wide receivers are underachieving, and the defensive ends and most of the linebackers are just flat gone. One thing is for sure. It should be one heck of a year in Athens.
-
LSU 2007 Preview
The Tigers go into the 2007 season with lofty and realistic expectations of battling for the national championship. And perhaps it?s not a coincidence that Les Miles? stamp on the Tigers is more obvious now than it was in his first two seasons.
-
Alabama 2007 Preview
Alabama is not deep, and its defensive front is suspect in size, numbers and talent. However, a big pack of skill players returns on offense. Couple that with Alabama's good-schedule year and maybe Nick Saban can pull a surprise in his first season in Tuscaloosa.
